CBSE asks for the hours. It asks your teachers for the record.
From session 2026-27 the CT and AI curriculum covers Classes 3 to 8: 50 hours a year in the preparatory stage, 100 in the middle stage. The framework also asks each teacher for a Teacher Observation Journal per child. mechaite keeps both, in about two minutes after a class.
The demo is a real school record with a half-term in it, open and read only. Nothing to install and no sign-up.

Two questions a school cannot answer with a number today
Kits, resource books, lab software and teacher training for this curriculum are already sold by several companies, and they are good at what they do. None of them keeps the record the framework actually asks for.

Are the hours really happening?
Not timetabled, and not planned. Delivered, this term, in this class, split the way the framework splits them. Most schools can answer this only by asking a teacher to remember.

What can this particular child do now?
The question a parent asks at the gate, and the one the Teacher Observation Journal exists to answer. It is also the question a class register cannot answer, because attendance is not evidence of learning.
How it works
Two minutes after the class, on a phone
The teacher records what was covered, which competency it was, how long it ran, and a line about the children who did something worth writing down. Not every child every time, because a journal that must be completed for everyone gets completed falsely.

One thing worth being accurate about. A great deal of what is written online calls this curriculum mandatory. The covering circular does not use that word.

Delivered by your own subject teachers, and for Classes 6 to 8 by the computer teacher alongside them. The framework is explicit that this is not a visiting instructor's job.

Both figures are counted from SARAS, the affiliation register CBSE maintains itself, on 21 August 2026: 1,478 unique affiliation numbers across all 14 Kerala districts, and 729 in Bengaluru Urban plus 50 in Bengaluru Rural. The school-listing sites that aggregate this data gave us 461 for Kerala, which is wrong by a factor of three, and that is why we went to the register.
Your students' data
There is no field for a child's name
Not hidden, not encrypted, not restricted by role. Absent from the database entirely.
Children's personal data is a special category under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, and your school register already holds the names. In mechaite a child is the roll number or the initials your teacher already uses in the room, and the mapping between that and a name never leaves your office.
It is a better design as well as a safer one. There is nothing here to breach that you have not already got in a cupboard.

mechaite is running and a school can use it today. It is being built with a small number of schools rather than launched at all of them, and the first ones get the say in what comes next.
